Longline Heat Trace

In order to meet the unique needs of heating long pipelines, nVent Thermal/Raychem has developed special Longline Heat Tracing. LBTV, SLBTV, VLBTV and VLKTV Longline Heat Tracing Cables are designed for extreme transfer lines generally found between processing plants and storage or transportation facilities. Typical applications include pipes between petrochemical facilities, tank farms, sewage lines, water supply/injection lines, crude oil gathering lines (for viscosity control), and general temperature-sensitive lines.

In addition to the standard Self-Regulating Longline Cables, nVent Thermal/Raychem offers Longline Cables in Mineral Insulated, Skin-Effect (STS), and Series-Resistance (SC) cable types. Due to variance in the cable requirements, circuit lengths can vary from 500 feet (152.4 meters) to over 15 miles (24 kilometers). Exact specifications for each cable type include:

  • LBTV Longline Cable provides freeze protection and low-temperature maintenance for long pipe applications. LBTV Cable can maintain temperatures up to 150° F (65° C) and withstand exposure to temperatures up to 185° F (85° C). Due to their long-circuit design, LBTV Cables can be used for continuous circuit lengths up to 1125 feet powered by a single source.
  • SLBTV Longline Cable provides freeze protection and low-temperature maintenance for long pipe applications. SLBTV Cable can maintain temperatures up to 150° F (65° C) and withstand exposure to temperatures up to 185° F (85° C). SLBTV can be used for continuous circuit lengths up to 2,000 feet powered by a single source.
  • VLBTV Longline Cable provides basic freeze protection and low-temperature maintenance for long pipe applications. VLTBV Cable is suitable for temperature use up to 150° F (65°C). VLBTV can be used for extremely long circuit environments, with continuous circuit lengths of 1,000-12,000 feet powered by a single source.
  • VLKTV Longline Cable provides high-temperature maintenance for long pipe applications. VLKTV Cable can withstand continuous exposure to temperatures up to 300° F (150° C) and sporadic exposure up to 420° F (215° C). VLKTV can be used for continuous circuit lengths of 1,000 – 6,000 feet powered by a single source.
  • STS Longline Cable provides high-power temperature maintenance for long pipe applications. STS Cable can maintain temperatures up to 392° F (200° C) and withstand exposure up to 482° F (250° C).
  • SC (Series Resistance) Cable is ideal for long pipe applications when circuit lengths exceed typical Heating Cable ratings. SC Cable can maintain temperatures up to 250° F (121° C) and withstand exposure to temperatures up to 482° F (250° C). SC can be used for continuous circuit lengths up to 12,000 feet powered by a single source.
