Voice Coil Technologies
This is the earliest type of control technology. In voice coil systems, a flapper nozzle is attached to a voice coil that is immersed in a magnetic field. The strength of an electronic signal to the coil moves the coil into or out of the magnetic field. This movement causes a flapper nozzle to open or partially close on a orifice and change the regulated output.
Piezo-ceramic Technology
This technology is relatively new to I/P and E/P control. A piezo electric ceramic disk covers an orifice. An electronic signal to the disk causes a deflection that opens or partially closes the orifice. Internal electronic feedback assures precise output pressure control. This technology is extremely resistant to shock, vibration, and changes in position.
